We are eating ourselves to death!!! Literally!!

I am reading this book called The Culprit & The Cure by Steven G, Aldana, PH.D. as part of a wellness program we are doing at work.  I really did not think that I would learn anything new or different from what I have already read or heard, but I have and I am only done with the third chapter!  Did you know that the number of deaths related to poor nutrition in the United States is equivalent to more than "seven fully loaded 747's"? p.39. Ladies, don't think you are immuned to the leading killer in the US, cardiovascular disease, because according to Dr. Aldana's research women are more more suseptible to cardiovascular disease than men. Wow!!  Now, with more women doing the same high stress jobs as men, more women will be dying of heart attacks!  Not to be the grim reaper, but we need to get control of our lives and the only way to do that is to eat more vegetables, fruits and grains and exercise more. Maybe we should do 5 minutes of aerobic exercise every hour while we work. If every office did this even every three hours, people would benefit. Start something in your office, you may save lives!

Thanks for taking the time to read this, now go so something aerobic!

Abs Diet

I was reading Family Circle online and found an article about the ABS Diet For Women by David Zinczenko(Rodale). This diet is much like all the new diets that work, like diet that accompanies the P90X exercise routine, which I have been doing for the last two years and find it extremely successful. Bottom line, in order to get the muscle and the tone without the fat you have to not only work out consistently, at least 20 minutes four times per week, but you also have to eat smaller portions, more often. Weight Watchers also states this but goes a little further by offering you different ways to complete the task. This information is really not new but re-vamped. We are all aware of the foods that are low in fat and high in protein and fiber. We just don't think before we put them into our mouths. You can still eat the things you like, especially if you follow the logic of these diets. Propotions are the key as well as what you eat. No matter how you slice it, though, you got a eat!!!

Why do I do what I do?

As I said in my profile, I want to reach as many people as possible and help them to find the exercise and food program that will work for them to lead happy life without feeling guilty all the time about what goes in their mouth or how much exercise they do. As we all know, our society has evolved to become more sedentary. We no longer love on farms and cultivate our in own foods to sell and eat. We are all aware that something needs to be done. My opinion is that more people than not want to be healthy. I really do not believe that people go around intentionally stating " I want want to be grossly overweight and die young ". I do think that some people do want to eat whatever they want, when they want. Well, this can be done but always in moderation.  Remember what your Gram used to say all the time, "Everything in Moderation"? This statement rings true for so many things in life. So, just for today I would like you to keep that term in your head and apply to just one thing whether it be a chocolate bar that you are craving or the hours at work you are planning to do.  Action always speaks louder than words. Become active today and do something in moderation.
